National Theatre choose Nuway for Assistive Listening Solution

National Theatre choose Nuway for Assistive Listening Solution

Nuway recently returned from a tough week at the National Theatre. Working 16 hour days the team fitted a new assistive listening system in the iconic Olivier theatre. The “metal loss” caused by the steel and concrete construction coupled with the large number of backstage communication systems made this a testing installation for the team.

Nuway have teamed up with distributor CUK audio and American Amplifier giant Williams Sound to install the high-tech assistive listening system within all three of the National Theatres. The National Theatre team and its patrons are extremely pro-active in their offering for assistive listening. Included in the system design is 60 wireless listening units which are available to patrons without hearing aids who wish to experience the improved listening experience available from the professionally mixed audio channel, distributed using advanced low latency Dante audio distribution over IP network.

Working with the Williams Sound design, the Nuway team lifted the entire carpet and fitted over 1500 metres of protected foil under the carpet in a phased array low spill configuration.

The Nuway team were part of an army of staff and contractors who teamed up for a 1 week shutdown which included huge lighting and mechanical upgrades for this iconic venue, including work on the famous set change “drum” mechanism.

Nuway have worked at the National Theatre on a number of occasions and the enthusiasm of the NT Team makes it an amazing place to work. Special thanks to Simon Druce of CUK audio for his assistance.

Extron Introduces the NAV Series

Extron Introduces the NAV Series

Extron is pleased to introduce the NAV Series, the no-compromise Pro AV over IP platform that distributes and switches ultra-low latency, pixel perfect video, audio, and USB 2.0 signals over Ethernet networks. Utilizing Extron’s patented PURE3 codec, NAV delivers groundbreaking performance with visually lossless video over IP at resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling. PURE3’s Intelligent Selective Streaming - ISS - leverages low motion content to achieve extremely low bitrates while maintaining visually lossless performance. Most codecs make compromises in either image quality, bandwidth requirements, or latency. Extron’s no-compromise PURE3 codec offers the best of all three with its simultaneous delivery of pixel perfect video, ultra-low latency, and bitrates that no other product can match. The NAV Series is the only streaming solution that offers both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps encoders and decoders with compatibility across both systems. NAV can also deploy as a high-performance IP-based video and audio matrix, combining the flexibility of an IP-based system with the integration-friendly video and audio switching features found in conventional Extron matrix switchers.

“Our new NAV platform was purpose-built for the professional AV integrator, offering uncompromised quality and flexibility that works in virtually any environment,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Extron. “NAV empowers AV integrators to create mixed 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps Pro AV over IP applications that address a broader range of environments, delivering high-quality content with virtually no latency.”

Part of the NAV Series, the NAVigator System Manager offers a user-friendly interface for centralized management, configuration, and control of NAV systems. NAVigator facilitates easy setup and configuration, and offers extensive features for monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. NAV encoders and decoders support analog audio, embedded digital HDMI audio, and AES67 audio over IP, facilitating integration with DMP 128 Plus audio DSPs or other IP-enabled audio components. NAV systems are fully compliant with HDCP 2.2 for transmission of UHD content encrypted with the HDCP standard. Purpose-built to support demanding professional AV applications, the highly-scalable and powerful NAV platform enables secure deployment of AV signals to thousands of endpoints.
